Halloran has taken over the reins of Heathcote District Football League powerhouse LBU, replacing Adrian Dohnt, who stood down after one season at the helm.
The Cats have won the past four HDFL flags, with Halloran knowing what makes LBU tick, having played in all four premierships.
Halloran was an assistant coach this year, has previously captained the club and has been involved in selection throughout all four of the Cats' premiership seasons.
"If the boys were to describe me, they'd probably say hard and fair and that's the way I'd like to be seen as coach," Halloran said on Saturday.
"I'm really excited to get the role. At this stage, we won't be putting any limitations or expectations on ourselves.
"Every year is different, but we're really proud of what we've been able to do over the past four to five years and how successful we have been.
"We've not only won grand finals, but a lot of games, and we're looking forward to moving forward next season."
The Cats' side is shaping as having a new look about it next year.
Ruckman Liam Main has signed with Echuca United and star half-back Simon Keleher is returning to Ormond, while Eaglehawk announced on Friday it had signed the Cats' duo of Nathan O'Brien and Chris Hudson.
O'Brien and Hudson are both four-time premiership players with LBU, with O'Brien having also captained the Cats.
"There will be a bit of a different landscape in terms of our playing list, but hopefully, that's an exciting step for the footy club," Halloran said.
