Bentley is in his fourth season as president of the Bendigo District Cricket Association club.
As well as having played for the club, Bentley has long been an active member off the field for Golden Square, having spent 15 years involved at committee level.
“For me, it was a way to keep involved once I pulled the pin as a player,” Bentley said.
“I had been on the committee as a player for a long time as well, but I felt it was ideal for me to stay involved and help the club the best I could.”
Golden Square has been a regular finalist throughout Bentley’s involvement at committee level with the club.
“I enjoy the (president) role, but like anything, it has its moments,” Bentley said.
“We’re facing challenges, like halfway through the season we don’t have a curator, but we have some long-term plans such as a new training facility that we’re working towards.”
Golden Square takes on rivals Eaglehawk in round six of the BDCA this weekend.
