Bridegroom: Jarrod Castle
Wedding: June 28, 2014
The meeting
Kristy and Jarrod met on a night out in Bendigo. Both were living in Melbourne at the time and just happened to be in Bendigo on the same weekend. It was obviously meant to be, as Jarrod was supposed to be in Echuca that weekend camping but due to poor weather headed back to Bendigo for a night out.
The proposal
Jarrod took Kristy by surprise with a mid-week proposal. He organised a picnic under the stars on the golf course where he works. He chose the 15th tee for the picnic as this is his favourite hole on the course. He had arranged chocolates, pillows, lanterns and champagne. The hardest part of the plan was to get Kristy out to the location. Jarrod decided to tell Kristy there was a massive irrigation leak out on the course and that she had to come out and see it. As they got closer to the location Kristy realised there wasn’t an irrigation leak and started to get nervous. Jarrod proposed with a ring he had chosen from Michael Hill Jewellers.
The wedding day
The wedding was held in Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula. The ceremony was at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Shoreham with the reception to follow at Max’s Restaurant at Red Hill Estate.
The bride arrived traditionally late but in style in a 1951 Rolls Royce. The cars were organised through Triple R wedding car hire and they were in outstanding condition.
Shortly after the ceremony the clouds opened up and the rain began to fall but the bride and groom didn’t let it dampen their day. The car drivers went out of their way to help out, even holding umbrellas for the bridal party while photos were taken. Braving the elements, best man Wes, maid of honour Ashlee and bridesmaids Nicole and Michelle joined Kristy and Jarrod in getting into the spirit of things by wearing some very stylish gumboots to match the weather conditions!
On arrival to the reception guests were treated to canapés and drinks and a picturesque view overlooking Western Port Bay. The arrival of the bride and groom saw the cutting of the cake and a three course meal to follow.
Guests partied into the night with some live music from the Baker Boys. The day was enjoyed by 80 of their closest friends and family.
The dress
The dress was purchased at Be A Star Bridal in Cheltenham. It was designed and created in Barcelona, Spain with exquisite Ivory lace motifs over a tulle strapless gown, finished with a jewelled belt.
The cake
The cake was made by The French Lettuce in Carlton. It was a two tier Red Velvet cake with cream cheese icing. The Red Velvet was chosen because it is both Kristy and Jarrod’s favourite cake.
The photographer
Photos were taken by James Vincent from Groove Imagery. James was chosen due to his local knowledge of the area. The week before the wedding it was forecast to rain on the day so James went out of his way to find all new indoor spots for photos if it was to be wet. Jarrod and Kristy would highly recommend James to anyone getting married on the Mornington Peninsula.
The honeymoon
The happy couple went to Bora Bora in Tahiti where they relaxed and enjoyed seven days with an over water bungalow, crystal-clear waters, pure white sand beaches and perfect summer weather at Le Meridien Resort.
