Opals and Bendigo Spirit trio Belinda Snell, Tess Lavey and Gabe Richards capped their world championship campaign in Turkey by winning bronze.
Packham was in hot form at the National Wildwater Championships in Tasmania.
Victory in four events earned selection in Australia's team for next year's world titles.
Lavey, Packham, Richards and Snell are among the finalists for the 50th Sports Star of the Year award to be presented on February 27, 2015 at the All Seasons Hotel in Bendigo.
The sports awards are the longest running of their kind in Australia.
On the basketball court, the Jayco-backed Opals scored a 74-44 win against Turkey in the play-off for bronze at the world titles.
There was little time to recover from the campaign in Turkey as the Australia Pork Bendigo Spirit players lined up in the WNBL.
Richards was Player of the Week in round two of the Women's National Basketball League season.
Back-to-back WNBL premierships have the Spirit in the running for the 50th Sports Star award.
Next year's world titles will be the third time Packham has represented Australia.
Packham won the short sprint, long sprint, classic and teams events at the national titles on the Mersey River and Brady's Lake courses.
There will be plenty of time spent on the water preparing for the worlds to be held in mid-2015 in Austria and Slovenia.
