Bendigo TAFE's 2014 professional writing and publishing students have released this year's anthology of works, titled "Painted Words".
Compiled and published entirely by the course's students, it includes 86 short stories, novel extracts and non-fiction works.
Student Adem Besim, of Kyabram, also had his own novel My Unfortgettable Year published by Morris Publishing Australia.
He said the course had helped him develop his young adult story and pitch it to various publishing houses.
"I had the idea for the novel six years ago," Mr Besim said.
"The course helped me with the pacing of the story and building tension.
"I got to send manuscripts to a number of publishers and I was lucky enough for one to pick it up."
His story, set in Kyabram, is based on the experiences of a young footballer who faces family turmoil over his career decisions.
The Bendigo TAFE courses, which include a Certificate 4 and Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing, has industry professionals providing insight into having works published.
Teacher Peter Wiseman said they used a number of techniques to help students expand their creative scope.
"We have a huge range of subjects that we study throughout the year," he said.
Students learn about mythology and symbols, and the history and context of cultures throughout Asia and India.
A group of four students edited and published the anthology, which is available from Bendigo TAFE.
