Last time: Golden Square 0 dr Inglewood 0 (heated off).
Since 2005: Golden Square 6; Inglewood 3.
AFTER making headlines last week, Inglewood has the chance to prove its dominant performance against Bendigo was no fluke when it meets Golden Square.
Inglewood shocked Bendigo with a 30-shot victory and in what’s a rarity for the club, it’s sitting in the top four.
Golden Square’s premiership defence has started well with back-to-back wins over Castlemaine and Kangaroo Flat by a combined 46 shots.
At home Square will start favourites, but Inglewood proved last week that it must be respected.
PREDICTION: Golden Square by 14.
BENDIGO EAST v CASTLEMAINE - 1.30pm Saturday at Bendigo East.
Last time: Bendigo East 88 tied Castlemaine 88.
Since 2005: Bendigo East 11; Castlemaine 5.
BENDIGO East has burst out of the blocks and will chase a 3-0 start to the season when it hosts Castlemaine.
East has comfortably accounted for South Bendigo and Inglewood by a combined 49 shots, during which it has had the rinks of skippers Paul Moller and Brad Holland win both its games.
After its round one upset of Eaglehawk, Castlemaine came crashing back to earth with a thud last week with a 29-shot loss to Golden Square.
The Maine needs to regain that spark from round one or else it will be another long afternoon.
PREDICTION: Bendigo East by 19.
BENDIGO v KANGAROO FLAT - 1.30pm Saturday at Bendigo.
Last time: Bendigo 117 d Kangaroo Flat 64.
Since 2005: Bendigo 9; Kangaroo Flat 9.
BENDIGO and Kangaroo Flat will both be on the rebound from defeats.
The Flat is winless after two rounds having played last season’s grand finalists, Golden Square and Eaglehawk.
The Flat has won just two rinks so far - both by skipper Luke Hoskin.
While the Flat needs a win to get its season rolling, Bendigo is coming off a shocker last week when it was belted by Inglewood by 30 shots.
Bendigo’s Andrew Brown leads the skipper’s ladder with his rink’s two wins by margins of 18 and five shots.
PREDICTION: Bendigo by 7.
SOUTH BENDIGO v EAGLEHAWK - 1.30pm Saturday at South Bendigo.
Last time: Eaglehawk 115 d South Bendigo 76.
Since 2005: Eaglehawk 7; South Bendigo 0.
AFTER the glitz and glamour of hosting the BBD’s first Friday night pennant match under lights last week, it’s back to the traditional Saturday afternoon timeslot for South Bendigo.
South is 0-2 and on the bottom of the ladder, with another tough assignment awaiting against Eaglehawk.
The Hawks notched their first victory of the season last week with a 25-shot triumph over Kangaroo Flat.
When these sides met in round three last season, it was a tie. Can South Bendigo defy the odds again and take it up to its more fancied opponents?
PREDICTION: Eaglehawk by 21.
