Bridegroom: Kyle Patten
Wedding: March 22, 2014
The meeting
We were both born in Bendigo, just a day apart. It wasn’t until high school that we met through a mutual friend. We were friends for a few years before becoming a couple in 2006.
The proposal
It was 2012 and we were holidaying in WA. On New Year’s Eve we took a day trip to Rottnest Island where we found a secluded beach to go snorkeling. Kyle popped the question while we were floating out in the middle of the ocean; he had been swimming with the ring on his little finger the whole time!
The wedding day
Our ceremony was held at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Axedale, followed by a reception at the beautiful Chateau Dore Winery with 100 guests. Taylor Sheridan and his band provided music for the reception. Six weeks of dance lessons with Nick at iDance Studios finally paid off as we performed our first dance to Jason Mraz’s I Won’t Give Up.
Kyle and I couldn’t wipe the smiles from our faces the entire day. Everything went exactly as we had planned and we couldn’t have hoped for a better day.
The dress
My dress was a custom-made Mariana Hardwick strapless Chantilly lace gown, with a sweetheart neckline and scalloped hem, embellished with embroidery and beading. I wore a matching headpiece and cuff, and a full-length veil with lace edging.
The bridesmaids wore dresses of varying colours and designs all from the Anna Campbell collection. All bridal party flowers and reception decorations were provided by The Eternal Vase.
The cake
Our cake was made by Café Essence. It was a two-tiered chocolate mud and white choc-raspberry mud cake with palette icing. Decorated in white and apricot flowers to match the bridal flowers, it tasted as good as it looked.
The photographer
Sean Batty from Mylittleeye Photography Bendigo did an excellent job with our photos. He also provided a photo booth at our reception, which made for some great pics of all of our guests.
The honeymoon
We spent a relaxing two weeks in the Cook Islands surrounded by pristine beaches and jungle and coral lagoons. Honeymooners’ paradise!
