This Sunday the Bendigo Yacht Club is giving many would-be sailors a chance to discover the sport on Lake Eppalock.
BYC Commodore Russell Denholm said Discover Sailing Day was a major part of the club's calendar.
"The opportunity to sail with experienced sailors, and beautiful location really showcases club life."
This Sunday's event at Bendigo Yacht Club in 45 Sunset Drive, Lake Eppalock will run from 11am until 3pm.
Discover Sailing Day will include a free barbecue lunch, music, face painting and more.
On top of Discover Sailing Day, the club boasts a racing program, runs major regattas, takes a lead role with sailability (Sailing for the Disabled), provides structured sailing lessons and puts on regular social events.
The BYC honour board includes Allan Goodall, a multiple word championships in A-class catamarans; Greg Goodall, a multiple world champion in a variety of catamaran classes; and Adam Beattie, who recently won the NACRA world championships.
"These sailors along with many other national and state champions are proof that the waters of Lake Eppalock are the perfect breeding grounds for some of the best sailors in the world," Denholm said.
