Bendigo Sustainability Group is hosting its fourth Sustainable House Open Day on Sunday at eight different locations.
Group member Liz Martin, one of the owners of the five homes to be featured this year, said it was the second time she had opened up her Strathdale home.
Ms Martin said her home featured north-facing, double-glazed windows and the "whole idea was to have the place flooded with light".
"It's meant to be a small but usable space, opened up with cathedral ceilings. It’s a Liz house," she said.
She said anywhere from 30 to 100 people could be expected to walk through her door on Sunday based on her experience last time.
Ms Martin said the idea of the open days was to have home owners on hand to explain what they had done to make their homes sustainable.
A unique opportunity to see different houses.

"It's just unique, you can't (normally) go wandering through other people's houses and pick their brains," she said.
While the goal was to inspire others to live a sustainable lifestyle as well, Ms Martin said the main thing was that it was "a unique opportunity to see different houses".
"It's interesting, we have a straw bale house, two houses with sustainable gardens, a mudbrick home which uses re-purpose things - a wide variety," she said.
This year the open day would also feature two sustainable bed and breakfasts - The Chocolate Lily B and B and Millduck Strawbale Farm and B and B - and the Balgownie winery, Ms Martin said.
Attendees need to register at the Old Church on the Hill at 8.30am before the tour, with houses open from 9am until 4pm.
Visitors can also choose to sit in on a number of sustainability talks scheduled from 9am.
