The funding will see the installation of rumble strips and improvements to current signage to provide early warning to vehicles as they approach the intersection.
I have worked closely with the residents of Bendigo West in lobbying for improvements to be made to the intersection that has caused accidents and cost lives.
The dangerous intersection is another legacy of the previous Labor government’s inability to deliver projects on time and on budget, their solution for Fogartys Gap was to cut out the safer intersection because they had run out of the money to fund it.
By keeping the economy strong the Napthine government is able to invest in key infrastructure projects, build and upgrade schools and hospitals, and give families the support and services they need.
The Napthine government has already committed to improving the safety of the Calder Highway as possible with improvements being made to Fogartys Gap, as well as committing to building the $86 million Ravenswood Interchange.
I have worked hard to ensure that the Calder Highway is made as safe as possible and am pleased to see funding being committed to improving the Fogartys Gap Intersection and building the Ravenswood Interchange, two of our region’s most dangerous sections of road.
