Earlier: Two cyclists were injured after a car suddenly pulled over in front of them on the McIvor Highway in Junortoun on Saturday.
Senior Constable David Saunders of Bendigo Highway Patrol said the incident occurred about 9.25am when a car travelling in the direction of Bendigo had tried to turn into a nursery.
He said the car put its brakes on and pulled over suddenly to the left without seeing the two cyclists immediately behind.
Senior Constable Saunders said the bikes were probably travelling 40km/h when they hit the car and road and "had nowhere to go".
"The front cyclist hit the rear of the vehicle and came off his bike," he said.
"The second rider tried to avoid the car and the other cyclist but also came off his bike."
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said a man in his 60s received facial lacerations and another man in his 60s received a shoulder injury.
The cyclists were transported to Bendigo hospital in a stable condition, the spokesman said.
Senior Constable Saunders said drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the accident and a penalty notice was issued to the driver for diverting while unsafe.
He said the behaviour warranted issuing a warning to other drivers to be aware of cyclists on the road, especially given October was Victoria Police's Safe Cycle Month.
"With the warmer weather, there are more bikes on the road and cyclists," he said.
"Be more mindful of your surroundings."
