For as long as I can remember the great race has always intrigued me
I struggle to change a car tyre, let alone know how to fit a muffler or repair an automatic transmission.

However, for one weekend a year I become a car fan.
As much as my esteemed colleague Westy finds it hard to believe, a trip to Bathurst on the second weekend in October is on my sporting bucket list.
I've never sat down and watched the race from start to finish on TV and nor do I have a foot in the Ford or Holden camps, but for as long as I can remember the great race has always intrigued me.
The unique Mt Panorama circuit, the passion of the Ford and Holden fans and the legend of Brock, Johnson, Skaife and Lowndes, pictured powering across the mountain, make the event one of Australia's premier sporting events.
That's why one year I will make the trek to Bathurst, plant an esky and barbecue on top of the mountain and soak up the atmosphere.
I've been to the Formula One Grand Prix in Melbourne a couple of times and I get the impression Bathurst would be more my cup of tea.
The US Masters at Augusta is a clear number one on my sporting bucket list.
My golf game matches my car tyre changing ability, but AFL grand final a side, there's not an annual sporting event that commands my attention more than The Masters.
Greg Norman's heartbreaking defeats, Adam Scott's triumph, Amen Corner, Tiger's birdie chip on the par three 16th - more quality drama than Home and Away could ever imagine (sorry Doley).
Sitting second behind the Masters is a trip to Anfield to watch the mighty Liverpool play in the English Premier League.
To stand with the Reds fans and sing You'll Never Walk Alone would be sensational.
I've been lucky enough to attend two AFL grand finals - 1989 and the 2010 replay when Collingwood beat St Kilda - so that is marked off.
Melbourne Cup is on the list for obvious reasons, while Wimbledon, an NBA and Major League Baseball game and a day of Test cricket at Lord's are probably no surprise to any sports fans.
What might surprise is the final sporting event on my bucket list - darts.
A world championship final in London.
Phil "The Power" Taylor versus Michael Van Gerwen.
Packed venue, pints galore and a party atmosphere.
You've got to love that.
