Just some of the words used by keynote speaker and MC Clementine Ford to describe the two-day Violence prevention - it's everybody's business conference in Bendigo this week.
This conference has done much for the cause in battling violence against women and children.
But it's highlighted there is still so much hard work ahead to change a culture which placed women and children in danger.
Education and action are paramount to changing that culture.
It's impossible to find a solution to any problem without first admitting a problem exists.
The guest speakers and human interest stories highlighting this conference should leave everyone in no doubt the problem is grave.
It's impossible to find a solution to any problem without first admitting a problem exists
But we should also take heart from the fact the people who attended this conference and many more out there are working tirelessly to change attitudes and behaviours around women, children and violence.
People such as keynote speaker Phil Cleary who used his address to demand a Royal Commission into the 'national scandal' of violence against women.
Such boldness and determination is essential if society is to truly change.
