Council estimates it will cost upwards of $1.5 million and $2.25 million to improve Dower Park, a popular recreation reserve located off Station Street,
The executive summary of the draft plan says community consultation highlighted a number of themes and suggestions for improvements to the site, including:
• improve all sporting facilities and facilities that service informal recreation needs of the community
• improve public toilets
• provide a safe playground area
• consider preferred options for long-term management of the reserve
• consider site options for establishment of an additional Lawn Bowls green
• remove the swimming pool and incorporate the space into the reserve
• improve facilities and connections to Browning Street and Crusoe College for junior sports usage
• finish the Sports Club extension and building works
• establish appropriate levels of car parking availability
• enhance pedestrian connections
• build in the lower level of the Sports Club to establish change rooms and support facilities for football, netball and cricket.
