Located on Allan's Walk, the Bendigo Sustainability Group's Energy Info Centre was officially launched last Thursday.
The pop up shop, as well as a series of 40 workshops and presentations to be held around Bendigo in the next 12 months, came about after the group won a state government grant in June.
BSG spokesperson Chris Weir said the centre's first purpose was to have people walking past duck in for help in how to reduce their energy bills.
"It's literally a drop-in centre," he said.
"It's encouraging people to look at their power bills and use online resources."
He said the secondary purpose was to be able to help people who might ask what else they can do about their energy use and habits.
A range of energy efficiency technologies such as LED lights, in-home displays and energy monitors will be on show, as will information about solar hot water and electricity.
City of Greater Bendigo councillor James Williams, who attended the centre's launch night last week, said it was a "fantastic initiative".
"I'd like to congratulate the Bendigo Sustainability Group on the opening of the new energy centre where you can go and check out your power usage and how you might be able to rearrange that," he said.
The pop up shop will be open from Monday to Thursday from 10am to 3pm.
