Determined to go one better than last year's semi-final play-off, the North Central team is eyeing off a spot in the Netball Victoria state championship grand final.
Hobbs said the team had been in training for the two-day tournament since June.
Players from across the Bendigo, Heathcote District, Loddon Valley and Echuca leagues have been selected in the three North Central teams.
"Training has been going really well, everyone has been gelling well," she said.
"We have picked a versatile team, we can try a few different combinations on court.
"We understand it is going to be a tough competition, every game we will play is going to be hard and physical."
Hobbs said one of the teams to beat would be Dandenong Valley and last year's open winners Frankston.
"You go into these tournaments a little bit blind, because you don't know who will be playing," she said.
"You can maybe lose one game on the way into the finals, so it really is do-or-die."
The North Central Open team will play nine games of netball across Saturday and Sunday at the State Netball and Hockey Centre.
