THE Opals have defeated Belarus in emphatic fashion overnight, booking their spot in the FIBA World Championships quarter finals.

The talented Australian line-up crushed Belarus, 87 to 45, in what was described as their most complete performance of the tournament to date.
The Opals held its opponents to just 30 per cent shooting efficiency and forced 26 turnovers for the match.
"When you defend anything can happen, so it is really pleasing to get the three wins and move into the next round and prepare for that quarter final," Opals head coach Brendan Joyce said.
Bendigo Spirit's Belinda Snell shot eight points in her 18 minutes of game time.
She also had five rebounds and dished out one assist.
Tessa Lavey shot four points, had two rebounds and two assists in her 17 minutes.
While Gabe Richards just played nine minutes, scoring two points.
The 42-point win sees the Australians secure top place in Group C after three victories by an average winning margin of 36 points.
As the group winner, the team advances directly to the Quarter Final stage where they will face the victor of the round of 16 clash between the Czech Republic and the third-place finisher in Group B on Friday night.
