The choir has much to celebrate and we would like to invite the Bendigo community to join our celebrations.
An exhibition of memorabilia will be mounted in Dudley House and open to the public on November 21 from 10am to 5pm and on November 22 until noon when it will be relocated to the choir's home, St Andrews Uniting Church Hall.
A celebration concert will be held at the Capital Theatre from 7pm on November 21 and a song fest for all current and past choristers at St Andrews on November 22.
A survey has been taken throughout the choir family and seven of the most popular songs studied over the 30 years will be rehearsed and performed at an informal ‘get-together’ concert from 5pm.
On Sunday, there will be a picnic/barbecue at Rosalind Park.
A point of interest that we have discovered when looking through our records is that the choir was formed in March, 1984, and our first public appearance was for the Bendigo City Council in the Bendigo Town Hall in October.
This was followed by our first public concert when the choir was launched by John Brumby, MP, who later became Premier of Victoria – and followed only weeks later by the choir’s first appearance at the Rotary Club of Bendigo Carols by Candlelight.
The choir has continued to contribute to the Carols by Candlelight and the City of Great Bendigo to the present day.
As can be seen even in the early days the choir has fulfilled an extremely busy schedule of engagements – most of which have been related to community service which is considered to be equally as important as singing.
Over the years, all of our young people have voluntarily contributed willingly to serving the community of Bendigo and district.
