Group members Ken and Wendy Price are calling for community involvement as member numbers dwindle.
The couple joined the group in 2005 when Mrs Price was diagnosed with non-hodgkin lymphoma.
The couple needed a group that they felt wasn't specific to one type of cancer or one area of support.
"When I was diagnosed with cancer I was going through the same journey as people suffering from different cancers," Mrs Price said.
"You have the same apprehensions and the same emotions."
The group's value is noticeable in the lives of cancer sufferers and their families.
"It is very clear how valuable they have become for those who feel that they need to talk to someone outside their usual network," Mr Price said.
"It assists with socialisation and gives people the opportunity to talk to someone who has walked in their shoes.
There is no discrimination with this disease.

"There are 170 support groups throughout the state which accommodate for everyone facing a cancer journey, whether it be their own diagnosis or supporting a loved one.
"There are more than 2500 people accessing these groups every month.
"People who attend cancer support meetings may live longer than those who don't."
Mr Price said numbers had unfortunately dwindled over the years.
"There is no discrimination with this disease," he said.
"The existing members are determined to do everything they can to continue the work of helping others."
The group was founded by Cath and Bob Harwood in 2005.
"The present members of our group wish to continue contributing to the community in Cath's memory," Mr Price said.
"She selflessly assisted many people facing adversity, unperturbed by the adversity she was facing herself, supported all the way by her husband, Bob."
The group are hosting a special meeting to commemorate their 10th anniversary.
Bendigo Hospital project officer Rachel Morris will join the group to speak about the hospital and the integrated cancer centre.
Mrs Price said the introduction of a specific cancer centre would change the cancer sufferer community drastically.
"It will offer heaps of support and counselling in the area of oncology," she said.
The event will be held on October 21 at the Bendigo Club from 12pm.
