A countback of electoral results to appoint a new Mount Alexander Shire councillor has been set for next month.
The Victorian Electoral Commission confirmed October 13 as the date for the countback to fill the vacancy in the Castlemaine Ward.
It follows the resignation of councillor Jessica Howard from Mount Alexander Shire Council earlier this month.
The countback of results from the municipal general election held in November 2012 will take place at 11am at Castlemaine Town Hall.
In a countback, voters do not need to vote again, but candidates who were unsuccessful at the general election and are still eligible to be elected will be included in the countback.
Eligible candidates may appoint scrutineers to attend and observe the countback.
