The Epsom resident has signed up for the Great Cycle Challenge to raise money to fight children's cancer.
His inspiration is 10-year-old Jackson Cooper - a family friend - who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.
"I am riding for children in Jackson's situation. He is my inspiration," Mr Storie said.
"Children should be enjoying life not fighting for it.
"I don't want to see (cancer) happen to others. I want (children) to be able to enjoy their lives.
"I would hate for one of my children to (be diagnosed with cancer) - nobody should have to go through what (the Cooper family) is going through."

Participants nominate a distance when they register and have the month of October to complete the goal.
Mr Storie has elected to ride 500 kilometres and hopes to raise $700.
All funds raised will go to the Children's Medical Research Institute to further research into the treatment of children's cancers.
"The ride is not only about raising money but also about raising awareness of the situation of what people go through," Mr Storie said.
"Jackson was given about 10 months (to live), families need more time than that.
"So awareness of how quick it can happen and people being aware of what is involved."
Mr Storie said he planned to ride to work three times a week and take to Bendigo's mountain bike trails.
He said a lower back injury would make the challenge even more difficult.
Ballarat business CycleScape have loaned Mr Storie a $4500 bike to complete the challenge.
Children's Medical Research Fund director Roger Reddel said researchers were working towards a new form of treatment designed to target all types of cancers.
"Individuals participating in initiatives like the Great Cycle Challenge have already enabled the fund's researchers to make a number of vital discoveries, including a test that will help identify some of the most aggressive types of cancers," he said.
"The funds raised by individuals and teams taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge will accelerate the search for new treatments for childhood cancers."
