Despite being chased heavily by other country clubs for playing and coaching roles, Collins said it was an easy decision to stay with the Mean Machine.
“I really enjoyed coaching this group over the past 12 months and I can’t wait to have a crack at winning the club’s sixth flag in a row,’’ the former Richmond and Carlton midfielder said.
Calivil United won six LVFNL flags in a row earlier this century and the Mean Machine can emulate that record next year.
“It’s not something we’ve spoken a lot about,’’ Collins said.
“We have lots of different motivations, but it would be a great achievement to equal Calivil’s record.
“There’s a lot of work to be done before we can even think about achieving that yet.”
Bridgewater president Gary Walters said Collins’ reappointment was a no-brainer.
“Andy added new dimensions to the club this year,’’ Walters said.
“I’ve never seen a coach do so much one-on-one coaching. He was very organised.
“He didn’t come back here from Melbourne with a big head. He was very professional and he knows where country football is at.
“We couldn’t have been happier with him.”
Collins expects minimal changes to Bridgewater’s playing stocks for 2015.
“The impression I get is that most players will be hanging around,’’ Collins said.
“There’s a couple of blokes we’d like to get to the club and we’ll approach those players.
“We’re mindful that we have very good depth at the club and our rejuvenation can come through those players as well.”
