More than 50 people packed the Bendigo Art Gallery on Wednesday for the launch of the festival.
Th festival, sponsored by Country Racing's Fashion Blogger, will span two weeks.
Highlights of the festival include a High Fashion, High Tea on September 28, a Spring Racing Master Class at Jools for Jim on September 26 and the popular runway event on October 2.
Sponsorship and media director Sue Opie said the festival was a must for all fashion lovers.
"We have come along way since 2007 which was the first year the fashion festival started," she said.
"This year saw the festival became and incorporated group - running independently - instead of alongside the Bendigo traders."
Ms Opie said the festival aimed to highlight the importance of shopping with local businesses.
"The purpose of the festival has always been about promoting local fashion retailers and supporting buying local," she said.
"I think it's important, in this day and age, that we tend to use the internet a bit, let's go into a shop and try on those shoes and try on those clothes."
Face of the festival and Jools for Jim ambassador Georgie Pell was also in attendance at the launch.
Creative director Penny Holloway said more than 1000 tickets are expected to sell during the festival.
"Everyone get ready - expect champagne flowing, snapping cameras, red carpets, goodie bags, models galore, music, prizes and an insane atmosphere," she said.
"We receive so much support from local businesses, come along and give back to them.
"Stay, eat and buy local."
Tickets are still available for the Spring Racing Master Class, which will provide participants with the chance to learn everything there is to know about hair and make up when it comes to the Spring Racing Carnival.
