Police have confirmed there has been no terror threat-related event in Bendigo.
An incident at a Bendigo taxi rank early on Sunday morning appears to have sparked the false rumour.
''Police attended a taxi rank in Bendigo about 2am on September 21 and spoke to an intoxicated 23-year-old Shepparton man,'' a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
''He was lodged for drunk at Bendigo Police Station and received a penalty notice for being drunk in a public place.''
The Bendigo Advertiser has received many social media posts and phone calls about the alleged terror threat incident since Monday.
