Priddis finished Monday night's vote count on 26 votes.
He became the third Eagles player to win the Brownlow. The others being Chris Judd and Ben Cousins.
Bendigo's own Joel Selwood went in as favourite, but finished on 21 votes. The Cats star racked up votes in 13 matches.
He finished in fifth place in what was a fifth top 10 finish in the medal race.
Runner-up a year ago to former team-mate and now Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett, Selwood had another outstanding season with Geelong.
A triple premiership player with the Cats, Selwood earned All-Australian selection for a fourth time and was captain for the second year running.
Selwood previously played for Sandhurst and the Bendigo Pioneers.
Those tipped to poll highly include Ablett, Sydney team-mates Josh Kennedy and Lance Franklin, Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray, Essendon's Dyson Heppell, and West Coast's Matt Priddis.
Those to earn three votes in the opening round include Selwood, Ablett, and Port Adelaide's Ollie Wines, a second-year player at Power after being drafted via the Bendigo Pioneers and Echuca.
After three rounds, Selwood and Ablett are joint leaders on six votes.
Four rounds in and Geelong captain Joel Selwood leads the medal race on eight votes.
Five players - Gary Ablett, Geelong's Steve Johnson, North Melbourne's Shane Mumford and GWS Giants ruckman Shane Mumford - are locked on six votes.
After five rounds and Ablett is outright leader on nine votes.
St Kilda skipper Nick Riewoldt and Richmond captain Trent Cotchin made fine start and are on seven votes.
