The teenager - a girl aged 13 who cannot be named for legal reasons - faced a children's court on Monday where she also pleaded guilty to shop theft.
The court heard the teenager and two friends invited the girl to a park where they confronted her.
The police prosecutor said the accused warned the girl to stop talking about her behind her back.
When a verbal argument began and the girl walked away, the teenager approached her and punched her in the jaw.
She then pulled the girl to the ground by her hair and encouraged her friend to hit her.
While the victim was on the ground, the teenager reached into the girl's top, pulled her mobile phone from her bra and ripped her necklace off.
The court heard one of the friends recorded the assault on her phone at the teenager's request.
The magistrate told the teenager her behaviour was unacceptable and worrying.
She adjourned the matter to November to allow time for group conferencing between the parties.
