BENDIGO police have praised the behaviour of the general public following yesterday's grand final day.
Sergeant Tony Kekich said from all reports, everyone behaved really well.
"The people who go to grand finals in Bendigo are a good crowd," he said.
"Generally the night went smoothly, police were generally pleased with how the public behaved."
Sergeant Kekich said police arrested five people in Bendigo's central business district for drunken behaviour last night, but only one was in relation to the football at QEO.
"He had been drinking at the football but was arrested in the CBD about 6.30pm," Sergeant Kekich said.
He said all five had been issued penalty notices for being drunk in a public place.
