9.55am WHAT WE'RE CHASING TODAY: The Bendigo Motorcycle Club is hosting its Ravenswood Cup today. 

A group from within the Sandhurst Diocese will be seeking signatures for a petition to have Cardinal Pell resign; while a congregation at Kangaroo Flat will commemorate 160 years since the first methodist service in the city. 

The Guildford Banjo Jamboree is on this afternoon, as is the Record, Comic Book and Toy Fair at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds.

9.20am LOCAL NEWS: Bendigo police have praised the behaviour of the general public following yesterday's grand final day.

Police arrested five people in Bendigo's CBD overnight - only one in relation to the footy.

8.45am NATIONAL NEWS: A Sydney-bound Qantas flight has been diverted because of a drunk passenger who allegedly broke through all four sets of plastic handcuffs on the flight after repeated attempts to steal whisky.

Australian Federal Police officers escorted the man from the plane after the Flight QF24 from Bangkok was forced to land in Cairns just before 6am. Report here. 

8.35am TRAINS: V-Line looks to be running smoothly on the Bendigo line this morning. 

A reminder to those travelling on later trains from Monday to Thursday of this week - due to regional rail link works, coaches will replace some trains between Melbourne and Sunbury. 

Affected services include the 9.22pm service and the 10.22pm service departing Southern Cross and the 8.38pm service departing Bendigo. 

V-Line has asked people to allow an extra 40 minutes travel time. 

A Public Transport Victoria annual report says V-Line failed to meet its regional train punctuality targets for the year to June. Renee Thompson reports here.
