Good on Bendigo police for this week rolling out some high-speed trail bikes from Melbourne to catch more drivers who want to flout the law in such a way.

No sympathy for the 20 drivers caught on Friday who will all be $443 and four demerit points lighter for their arrogance.

The amazing thing about Mr Gay's story is that although the driver put himself and others in such a dangerous position, he continued on happily texting after the near miss.

We can only hope he ventured across a high-speed trail bike somewhere down the road.
