Bridegrooms name: Daniel Clayton
The meeting:
Daniel and I met at his sister’s engagement party in 2011. My cousin had wanted to introduce us for a number of months and when he read the engagement invitation, which said he could bring a “friend”, he thought it was the perfect opportunity to arrange our first meeting. I agreed to the idea as I thought “what have I got to lose”.
After a few dates we decided to take a trip to the beach. On the way home Dan asked if I would like to have a drive of his new car. I agreed, but unfortunately after only a few minutes into our journey I lost control of the car and we crashed into a large tree at 100km/h. Amazingly we both made it through the car accident with minor injuries. It was as we waited for the ambulance that Dan asked me out.
The proposal:
On our second year anniversary Dan took me to the beach again. As I am good at guessing things we spent the day shopping and he played it very cool; we even bought him a push bike. On the way home we stopped at the accident site and he got down on one knee under the tree where it all started.
The wedding day:
We shared a perfect winter’s day; the sun was shining and no rain in sight. Our ceremony was held at Forest Street Uniting Church and our reception at the lovely Big Hill Winery.
