Mr Langdon supports spending $8 billion on a dud tunnel in Melbourne rather than funding just one new intensive care unit bed at Bendigo Health.
Mr Langdon needs to explain to the people of Bendigo why he is defending the Liberal government’s health cuts and why a request for funding, for just one intensive care unit bed, has been denied by the health minister.
Instead of being an apologist for the Liberals and their health cuts, Mr Langdon should be standing up for the Bendigo community and for the sickest people in our community and demand the Liberal government explain why this one bed will not be delivered.
Sadly, it is becoming an increasing trend among Liberal government ministers to resort to personal attacks when they cannot defend their government’s policies.
This was very evident in the health minister’s recent outrageous personal attack on the Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan when the issue of a funding request for one new bed for Bendigo Health was raised. Instead of explaining why the government could not fund one new bed, the minister ranted and blamed everyone but his own government. There has been $831 million cut from Victoria’s health budget under his watch.
There is a further cut of $24 million there for all to see in the federal Liberal government budget papers.
The priorities of the Liberals reveal that the sickest people in the region are being ignored while Melbourne gets an $8 billion road that has no business case, no traffic modelling, no mandate from an un-elected premier to go ahead, and will not benefit anyone in regional Victoria.
