Harvardr is made up of about 20 men and women who participate in medieval-styled martial arts.
Leader Billy Stewart said the art form was exciting and fun but was not for everyone.
"New members need to have a genuine interest in history and the medieval period," he said.
The group meets on a weekly basis to train and performs at various annual festivals across Victoria.
Arthur Fuamatu has been part of Harvardr for about eight months and said it wasn't all about fighting.
"We try to re-enact people's culture from (the medieval period). It's fun." he said.
