A cow – decked out in the Storm’s navy blue and white colours – headlines Strath Hardware’s shrine to the club this week.
Blue and white streamers and balloons also grace the store’s windows and shop front.
“We’ve been sponsors of the club since day one and we want to support the boys as much as we can,’’ Strath Hardware’s Kurt Ross said.
We want to support the boys as much as we can.
“When Eaglehawk play in the grand final the whole shopping strip is decked out in the two blues colours. We’d love to see the Strathfieldsaye community do the same thing.
“The pub, the butcher and the fish and chip shop have said they’re going to put up balloons and streamers as well, which is great.
“Hopefully, everyone else gets behind the club as well.”
Ross plans to move the painted cow to other prominent areas of Strathfieldsaye to garner more support for the club.
“We only got the cow a couple of weeks ago and it was suggested we paint it up in Storm colours for the grand final,’’ he said.
“It’s a bit of fun and catches everyone’s attention.”
Storm fan Mick Cumming has decorated his letter box for grand final week. Cumming was on the Storm committee when the club was formed six years ago.
“It’s been a great ride,’’ Cumming said.
“To have the team playing in its second grand final in just six years is a great effort by everyone involved. Back when the club started it took a lot of hard work. We had about 16 people on the committee and it was a big battle, but the support from the community right from the start has been amazing.
“This is the best side we’ve had and it would be great to see the boys win the flag on Saturday.”
