On Thursday, Redesdale Mia Mia Primary children hosted an environmental awareness day, as part of Kids Teaching Kids Week, a 15-year program that involves children teaching their classmates about ways they can nurture the environment.
Students from Langley, Elphinstone and Malmsbury primary schools gathered at Redesdale Mia Mia Primary to learn how to test water quality, search for macro invertebrates in wetlands and plant trees.
Kids Teaching Kids creator Arron Wood said Australia should be proud of its' green army.
“Our green-armed forces have been achieving some phenomenal results – whether it’s the restoration of a wetland area or the establishment of a waste water campaign or things as simple as school recycling programs, kids have wonderful ideas and this program allows them to put their concepts into action,” he said.
