Cox, who was fourth in the double trap with one round to go, stormed home, forcing a shoot-off between second and third place.
She eventually won the silver medal.
Earlier this year the La Trobe University student finished sixth in the women's double trap shooting final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
