The new facility replaces the old station which has served the community for a quarter of a century.
Station captain Robert Long said the building included a turnout area and communications station, and, for the first time, kitchen and toilet facilities.
"It'll be a real asset for us," Mr Long said.
"It's a great facility and will give us a central hub for the community."
The facility was built at a cost of about $260,000 as part of the state government's commitment to build 250 new fire stations in three years, and the CFA's Rural Fire Stations program.
State member for Rodney Paul Weller said he was honoured to officially open the station.
"This is an important facility and a great resource for the community," Mr Weller said.
"We understand the commitment you as volunteers have (and) we will continue to support the emergency services."
The Knowsley Fire Brigade was formed on January 3, 1940 and presently has 37 members – all volunteers – with 21 of these operational fire fighters.
