Sighted this morning at the Alexandra Fountain near Rosalind Park, the nanny arrived just in time to hear she would star in Bendigo Theatre Company's annual musical next year.
The City of Greater Bendigo, together with Bendigo Theatre Company, today announced that Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Mary Poppins would run in the new Ulumbarra Theatre.
Bendigo Theatre Company's secretary Gael Emond said the musical, which will show at the theatre in July 2015, was a significant milestone for the company.
"Over the 64 years of Bendigo Theatre Company’s existence there have been many highlights, and securing the rights to Mary Poppins and the move to Ulumbarra Theatre with a production of this scale is definitely a thrilling milestone in the history of the company," she said.
She said the new theatre's state-of-the-art facilities would be perfect for the production, and would cater to Mary Poppins' preference for flying.
"Our designers are already planning with great excitement knowing what the new theatre offers by way of a full fly tower and all of the other updated venue and technical facilities," she said.
Manager of The Capital, David Lloyd, said it was an exciting announcement to make.
"We are delighted to welcome one of Bendigo’s flagship theatre companies to Ulumbarra and we are doubly delighted that the first production they present will be such an iconic and ageless family favourite," Mr Loyd said.
"It is fantastic that Bendigo Theatre Company have realised the potential of this space.
"The facilities we are able to provide will really lift their production to a whole new level."
