Hughes played at The Capital theatre in Bendigo in June and is at the Theatre Royal in Castlemaine on Friday, September 12.
Since his June visit, Hughes has been overseas and played at the Montreal and Edinburgh comedy festivals.
He also did a three-week stretch of shows in London.
"I enjoy doing international comedy shows," he said.
"Except you can't mention Schapelle Corby because no-one really knows who she is.
"But we always have fun. At least half the crowd is usually Aussies."
Hughes said it was always good to get a chance to see other comedians in action at the festivals.
"It is always good to watch the other guys but I was only there a week so I was mainly doing on Netflix," he said.
Hughes' comedy tour sees him playing three or four date mini-tours each month as he winds down from his radio and television commitments.
"This year is definitely all about stand-up (comedy) for me," he said.
"I'm keeping up appearances (in other media) but I get sick of driving to the same places every day and seeing the same people.
"Places like Castlemaine are good because it is a beautiful old theatre on a Friday night, there'll be a good crowd and I can drive up and back in the day."
Dave Hughes' comedy tour Pointless stops in Castlemaine's Theatre Royal tonight. Tickets cost $45; phone 5472 1196 for details.
