In just under one month, the 700 sites will be full to bursting with trade stalls as part of one of Australia's biggest agricultural events.
Volunteers marked out the sites on Wednesday in preparation for the Elmore Field Days, which run from October 7 to 9.
They had more than a little help from Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Award students from Rochester Secondary College who helped to measure and mark the 700 sites.
Volunteer Helen O'Sullivan said the students had provided valuable support.
"We've been really impressed with the caliber and manners of the student volunteers," she said.
"They were enthusiastic to join in and have been great to work with."
About 50 volunteers took to the fields for the first day of physical preparations for the field days.
The 2014 event includes a new food and wine pavilion showcasing the best produce from across Victoria.
