Father's Day events promote health

AS FATHER'S day approaches, sons and daughters are thinking of what they can do for their dad.

Some will make cards, some will buy sock, and jocks and some will ride, run or walk for a good cause.

Bendigo Community Health Services are supporting the Ride for Dad, the Run for Dad Bendigo and the Walk for Dad Bendigo.

Which will you choose?

The Ride for Dad event, on Saturday, was designed to promote healthy physical activity in any form.

Event coordinator Steven Abbott the event was less about ability and more about involvement.

"We are trying to include the men who may not be confident wearing Lycra," he said.

"We are trying to show them that if they are curious they can try it out."

The ride begins at 10am from Peppercorn Park.

The run and walk for Dad both begin at 9am on Sunday.

The run will leave the Eaglehawk Town Hall at 9am and conclude at the Dai Gum San.

Registration is $30 for adults, $15 for under 16's and $70 for a family.

The 2.5 kms walk will begin at the Dai Gum San.

Registration is $25 for adults, $15 for under 16 and $60 for a family.
