THE Australian Boomers have stiched up a top-three finish in their group at the men's basketball world cup in Spain.

Australia fought on for a 70-62 victory in Wednesday night's clash with Mexico.

It's the first time in 16 years the Boomers have won three in a row at a World Cup campaign.

The Boomers line-up, which includes Maryborough star Matthew Dellavedova, plays its final group game on Thursday night against Angola.

Now playing for Cleveland Cavalaiers, Dellavedova was the Bendigo Advertiser Sports Star of the Year for 2013-14.
