The production statistics are amazing. WH Osborne Pty Ltd of Bendigo made 6000 four gallon tins per day for millions of pounds worth of food stuffs being canned at Bendigo.
The tin sheets are cut and shaped into halves before being pressed together.
Some of the work required the girls to peel the tomatoes for canning, others slice and prepare the food.
To make the cans they had to be assembled with the tops and bottoms pressed into the four gallon tins in the final production.
