I NOTE that the Liberal letter writers have been in overdrive regarding the announcement of a public crossing for Elmore. Unsurprisingly, they are not telling your readers the full story.

I have been working hard to support the Elmore community’s push for a safer public crossing at Railway Place.
Earlier this year after meeting with residents who were concerned that their request was being repeatedly ignored by the Napthine Liberal government, I sent their petition to the Minister for Roads and raised the matter in Parliament.
In his letter back to me the Minister said that a pedestrian crossing was not being considered at this time as the existing crossing was adequate.
This was not good enough and I indicated to the Elmore community that I would continue to fight for a crossing. It was pleasing that soon after this the Napthine government finally responded to this lobbying and community pressure and announced that VicRoads will install a crossing.
The Napthine government only acted after this was made an issue in Parliament and with the Minister.
The local community can be assured that I will not be deterred by the negativity of the Liberal letter writers and continue to stand up for our local community.
