Apparently in Cronulla a number of home-owners have cut down trees that blocked their view of water, claiming the trees were within 10 metres of the house when they were obviously much further.
It is happening here, too. Everywhere you look there are piles of trees bulldozed into heaps and gaps in forests that weren't there before.
Why is it that some people abuse the system?
Big native trees are rare, they take a long time to grow and provide shade and homes to native birds and animals.
Overseas, trees are becoming non-existent and concrete rules; we are rapidly heading that way.
The beautiful native forests and suburban trees around Bendigo will be something that future generations will only see in a David Attenborough movie.
Concrete jungles are unhealthy for the body and the mind.
