WHILE in the airport area recently, I thought of the furore we had a few weeks ago regarding the building of a mosque here in Bendigo.

Curiosity got the better of me, so I asked a few locals where the site of the proposed mosque was.
When I found the site, I was stunned to find it was all bushland.
Why has the fact that the site is all bushland been kept so hush-hush?
We know what has happened in the past to any landowners who dare suggest they will clear any bushland on their property.
The Department of Environment and Primary Industries, the council planning officers and council, the Greenies, the bush and wildlife lovers, and goody-goodies will always jump on such landowners like a ton of bricks.
Has Denis Napthine threatened his officers from the Department of Environment and Primary Industries to shut up, or else?
And our three Labour members. Why their silence too?
Why no uproar from any of these people?
Most of them have branded any objectors as racists and bigots.
They are all scared stiff of being branded racists and bigots themselves, if they don’t agree to the mosque being built on this site.
Councillors, other than councillors Leach and Chapman, and our three Labor members are also scared stiff of losing their seats!
The Catholic Church was told recently by council planning officers and council in no uncertain terms not to touch some bushland on its property.
Hmmm! Is there one law for the Muslim religion and another for other religions?
I have no objection whatever to the Muslim religion or to the Muslims building their mosque here in Bendigo, providing, yes providing, that is the big point, they are forced to comply with the same terms and conditions as everyone else is required to! Treated equally. If they are not, the game stinks.
Will any readers/landowners please tell their story of being prohibited from clearing any bushland on their property?
However, I doubt if any will, because they would be scared stiff of being prosecuted by council planning officers, some councillors, public servants and politicians.
