On the back of five-consecutive Bendigo Football League flags with Golden Square, Lloyd made the switch to the Redbacks as an assistant coach to Luke Rosa in October last season.
It was a major recruiting coup for the Redbacks and it was shown why on Wednesday night when Lloyd polled 18 votes to win the NCFL Feeny Medal.
The creative half-back flanker/midfielder made a flying start to the season, polling 15 of his 18 votes in his first six games.
Lloyd’s hot early form included four best on grounds against Wycheproof-Narraport (round two), Charlton (five), Donald (six) and Birchip-Watchem (seven).
After polling in each of his first six games, Lloyd didn’t add to his tally until round 18 when he collected another best-on-ground against St Arnaud to move to 18.
Lloyd is the fourth Redbacks’ player since 2009 to win the Feeny Medal.
Lloyd finished four votes clear of St Arnaud coach James McNamee (14), who was runner-up for the second year in a row having previously been the joint-winner in 2012, while Wedderburn’s Brady Herdman (13) was third.
The Tooleybuc Sporting Club presidents award was won by Wycheproof-Narraport’s James Coatsworth on 25 votes, ahead of Boort’s Aaron Wilson (23).
