KENNINGTON residents will now be able to buy groceries at 11pm if they so desire, thanks to a new Woolworths opening in Kennington Village.
Tonight staff members and their families attended a VIP night at the store and doors will open to the public bright and early at 7am tomorrow morning.
Store manager Adam Hutton said the new store was bigger and brighter than other Bendigo Woolworths, and would provide a one-stop-shop for the community.
"It's much more open and has a larger feel than our other stores," he said.
At a time when youth unemployment is at a 15-year high, the new store will employ 130 staff members, including many young people.
Store services officer Linda Cotton, who has been working with the company for 27 years, said Woolworths was a fantastic place to work.
She said she loved working with teens who were completing their first jobs.
"We've employed quite a few 15 and 16-year-olds in their first jobs," she said.
"It's really good to impart knowledge on the younger kids.
"It's a great stepping stone in any career."
She said the company was like a big family.
"Everyone gets along so well. We laugh, we joke and it's a fantastic place to work," she said.
