THE Bendigo Airport redevelopment plan, which proposes a 1600-metre long runway and business park, will be released for public comment tomorrow.
The redevelopment will change physical aspects of the airport and surrounding land.
The current flight path will be slightly adjusted and shift to the east and vegetation will be removed to ensure visibility and safety.
Height controls proposed for properties close to the runway will also require a planning permit to construct a building taller than 10 metres.
Some areas will also require new dwellings to have additional inbuilt sound proofing because of their proximity to the airport.
The council futures director Stan Liacos said the proposed changes were necessary to progress the redevelopment of the airport.
He said stage one of the redevelopment was complete, with 25 new hangars, three new taxiways, improved road access and critical drainage infrastructure in place.
"This joint amendment and application will prepare the council to deliver stage two and three when funding from the state and federal governments is announced," Mr Liacos said.
“The proposed changes will account for these and ensure the airport can continue to service an estimated population catchment of more than 200,000 people and act as a key base for Victorian emergency services.”
He said it was not expected redevelopment would impact property prices or rates, as the airport was already factored into each property’s calculation.

An informal drop-in session will also be held on Tuesday, September 16, between 4pm and 6pm at the Bendigo Airport, 35 Victa Road, East Bendigo.
