The Roos travel to Gisborne for the final round in fifth spot and with their finals destiny in their own hands.
Win, and the Roos are headed to just their second finals series since 2001 in what would be a stunning turnaround after claiming the wooden spoon last year.
But lose and they must then rely on Sandhurst to beat Eaglehawk to keep the Hawks at bay.
While the sixth-placed Hawks are underdogs against the ladder-leading Dragons at the QEO, the Roos clearly want to take Eaglehawk out of the equation by defeating Gisborne.
"We know we've got to go down to Gisborne and produce our best performance to come away with a win," Kangaroo Flat coach Jason Stevens said.
"Hopefully, we can do our job and not have to rely on what happens in that Sandhurst-Eaglehawk game.
"We've been underdogs for a lot of the season, but the good thing about this weekend is it's in our hands and we can make our own luck... by winning this game of footy no-one can knock us out."
Kangaroo Flat will take confidence down to Gardiner Reserve knowing it beat the Bulldogs in round nine - albeit by a point thanks to an after-the-siren behind to Roos' key forward Cameron Rinaldi.
"Both teams are different to last time, but we know Gisborne is a super side and has always been a competitive force, so we will need to be at our best to get the points down there," Stevens said.
"We think our form has been pretty good over the past few weeks, so we'll go in with some confidence."
Just like last time Gisborne played Kangaroo Flat, the Bulldogs - who can't move from third - are coming off back-to-back losses to Strathfieldsaye and Sandhurst.
