Hello Local delivers information to people's smartphones based on their exact locations using the latest iBeacon, NFC and proximity marketing technologies.
The app allows people to discover offers, deals and information based on their exact location.
It was only unveiled to the public about two weeks ago and was launched by marketing and design firm Blunt Agency and iProximity.
Chief executive Brent Nolan said the business was thrilled to win the award and said it reinforced the uniqueness of the product.
"It is good to be recognised at a national level and have people acknowledge that the app is a quality product," he said.
"The calibre of competition was very high, so this award is something we do not take lightly."
Mr Nolan said the app would help "brick and mortar stores" compete on a digital level and provide brands with a new and cost-effective way to engage with their customers.
"There has been a lot of negative press about the impact that digital has on bricks and mortar stores," he said.
"What the app does is gives store the stores an opportunity to compete in a new way."
Mr Nolan said the business hoped to market the app on a global-scale but would roll it out in Bendigo first.
"We are discussing it with lots of retail precincts but we hope to have talks with big national retailers and take the app overseas," he said.
"We are very passionate about Bendigo and hope the community gets on board with the app."
The awards were judged by a panel of peers and industry professionals.
The app is free and can be downloaded from www.hellolocal.me or the App store. It is both iPhone and Android compatible.
